Overview
The American Journalism Historians Association seeks nominations for the organization’s National Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award recognizes a select group of college and university teachers who excel at teaching in the areas of journalism and mass communication history, make a positive impact on student learning, and offer an outstanding example for other educators.
A teacher nominee may be tenured or untenured, and should hold either a full- or part-time appointment at a college or university that confers an associate, baccalaureate or higher degree in journalism, mass communication, communication studies, or history as of the submission due date. All nominees must have responsibility for teaching the history of journalism and mass communication either as a stand-alone course or as part of a broader course.
Nomination letters may be submitted by a supervisor or peer. In addition, the nominee is responsible for providing supporting materials. Complete information regarding the award and required materials is available online at http://ajhaonline.org/awards.html#teaching.
Nominations and supporting materials must be postmarked by July 15, 2010.
