Overview
This scholarship is to support a PhD project on the biology of mesothelioma, a life-threatening neoplastic disease of the pleura arising from asbestos exposure. The major focus will be on characterisation of mesothelioma stem cells and ways to kill them, in order to develop new and efficient ways of managing the disease. The student will be supervised by Professor Jiri Neuzil from the School of Medical Science and the Griffith Health Institute on the Gold Coast.
Scholarship value and duration
The scholarship is worth $25,000 p.a. in the form of a stipend. A top-up of $5,000 p.a. may be negotiated.
Eligibility
The student will enrol in the Doctor of Philosophy programme. Only Australian/NZ student should apply, although overseas students with very good tract records will also be considered.
