Environmental ChemOinformatic (ECO) Marie Curie Initial Training Network

Overview

Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) are aimed at improving the career perspectives of European researchers who are in the first five years of their career by offering structured training in well defined scientific and technological areas as well as providing complementary skills and exposing the researchers to other sectors including private companies.

ECO is a collaborative action of seven groups from five EU countries. It is aimed to prepare a new generation of environmental scientists who will contribute to implementation (but not limited to) of new European legislation on chemical substances (REACH).

ECO provides eleven positions leading towards PhD, Long-Term Fellowships, (Early Stage Researchers in EU terminology) and one postdoctoral appointment (Experienced Researcher in EU terminology) starting March 2010. Moreover 37 Short-Term Fellowships (Early Stage Researchers in EU terminology) will be appointed during 2010-2013.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates. In all cases a life science/mathematics/chemistry background and a first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent is needed. The rules governing eligibility should be consulted to determine whether you will be eligible to participate.

People from outside of the EU are welcome to apply and will be eligible unless they have been recent residents in the EU country to which they are applying.

The applicants may not have MSc at the time of application, but they should expect to receive it at least before middle of 2010.

Important dates:Please, apply as soon as possible to be selected.The fellows will be recruited until all positions will be filled in. The latest possible starting date for Long-Term Fellowships is Sep 2010.The (Experienced Researcher and the 37 Short-Term Fellowships can be taken up at a later date
