Overview
Baker IDI Heart & Diabetes Institute is an independent, internationally renowned medical research facility. Our work extends from the laboratory to wide-scale community studies with a focus on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Applicants are invited to apply for a scholarship to undertake a PhD in a clinical trial of stroke management under the supervision of A/Prof Mandy Thrift. The trial, “Shared Team Approach between Nurses and Doctors for Improved Risk Factor Management – STAND-FIRM for stroke patients”, is funded by the NHMRC. Duties will include recruiting participants, preparing chronic disease management plans as part of the intervention being tested and undertaking data analyses appropriate for the research questions identified by the applicant for inclusion in the thesis.
