Position Description:
The DORA project of the MAS lab from Centrale Paris is dedicated to Dimension reduction, Optimization, Reduced Order modelling and design Analysis. A 12 or 24 months-long postdoctoral position about numerical optimization using POD-based surrogate models and partially converged FE/FV computations in proposed.
In this work, the postdoc will find new fast algorithms of multidisciplinary optimal parameter design for the design of complex systems (aircraft, car, etc.).
Position Funding:
This postdoc position is funded by the french “Agence Nationale de la Recherche”, OMD2 project (MultiDisciplinary Optimization II project). It is open for European PhD candidates and foreign candidates
Position Duration & Closing Date:
From now to Nov 2009 – 12 months or 24 months funding

Position Objectives:
The aim of this postdoc is to design a proof-of-concept software environment for the optimal design of an industrial system by techniques of reduced-order modelling and Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) that take advantage of partially converged FE/FV computations according to the level of model fidelity. In the paper [1], a pioneered study has been done in this direction. In this postdoc, the aim of the work is to rigorously derive convergence stop criteria according the expected of fidelity of the computation as well as the convergence level within the optimization loop.
Position Requirements:
Good skills in Numerical Analysis, code development, software architecture, C++,
Freefem++, open source CFD codes. Scientific publications in top level
international journals.
