Important Information:
Postdoctoral Training Appointments for research training at The Jackson Laboratory are awarded to recent (0- 4 yr) recipients of a doctoral degree (including but not limited to Ph.D., M.D. and D.V.M. degrees) who seek research experience beyond that obtained in graduate or professional school, or in recent postdoctoral training elsewhere. The foundation of the postdoctoral program is the one to one relationship between the trainee and his or her Faculty sponsor. Although the trainee works primarily in his or her sponsor’s laboratory, the trainee has complete access to the rich research resources of the entire Jackson Laboratory. Trainees devote their major effort to research: developing, learning, and implementing laboratory and computational skills, analyzing data, interpreting research results, and giving both oral and written presentations of their findings within the rich scientific community at The Jackson Laboratory and internationally. Internal collaboration is a hall mark of The Jackson Laboratory and postdoctoral trainees gain exposure to new research ideas by attending and participating in the various research Interest Group meetings and journal clubs, seminars, conferences, and courses the Faculty has developed at the Laboratory for its own continuing education.
