FIT Travel Scholarship Application for United States and Canada
PURPOSE
The AAAAI will provide funding to assist Fellows-in-Training (FITs) in allergy/immunology and non-faculty PhDs to attend the 2010 AAAAI Annual Meeting.
This year’s meeting will be held February 26-March 2, 2010 in New Orleans, LA and will consist of four Plenary sessions, two Keynote sessions, symposia, scientific workshops, seminars, and abstract presentations. These will cover current research and clinical topics relevant to the field of allergy/immunology.
PROGRAM GOALS
• To offer an intellectually stimulating opportunity to FITs/PhDs who attend the 2010 Annual Meeting.
• To offer FITs/PhDs the opportunity to meet with their colleagues and learn from their experiences.
• To offer FITs/PhDs the opportunity to keep abreast of the current research in the field.

TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP TERMS
• A maximum of $650 for second or third-year FITs/PhDs who apply for a travel scholarship without submitting an accepted abstract for presentation.
• A maximum of $800 for first-year FITs/PhDs who apply for a travel scholarship without submitting an accepted abstract for presentation.
• A maximum of $1,100 to FITs/PhDs who apply for a travel scholarship and are first author of an abstract accepted for presentation; candidate must present his/her abstract at the Annual Meeting in order to be eligible for the $1,100 award.
• Please note: The above travel scholarship amounts are for actual meeting-related expenses incurred and receipts must be submitted after the meeting by April 23, 2010.
• This travel scholarship will reimburse domestic coach airfare, ground travel (including train or personal vehicle), hotel for meeting dates, course fees and meal expenses up to $59/day.
• Rental car, gasoline, abstract/poster-related fees, recreational activities, cellular phone bills, Internet access, and personal items are not eligible for reimbursement.
ELIGIBILITY
• Applicant must be an AAAAI In-Training member or a AAAAI PhD Post Doc member or have submitted a completed application for In-Training or PhD Post Doc membership before November 20, 2009.
• Applicants must be first, second or third year Fellows-in-Training in an allergy/immunology training program approved by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education, or a clinical immunology and allergy training program approved by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada -OR- Non-faculty PhDs associated with the aforementioned training programs.
• Individuals with a faculty appointment will not be considered.
SELECTION
Travel scholarship selection is made by the Program Directors Assembly Executive Committee. Due to the limited availability of funds, some applications may not be accepted for funding. Preference will be given to those applicants who are first authors on abstracts that have been accepted for presentation at the Annual Meeting and who do not reside in the New Orleans, LA area. Accepted applicants will be notified in January 2010.
APPLICATION CHECKLIST
• Application must not exceed the limits of the enclosed form.*
• Program Director must sign the application form and check the appropriate box to indicate the applicant is associated either with an allergy/immunology training program approved by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education, or a clinical immunology and allergy training program approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• If the Program Director is not an AAAAI Fellow, a sponsor who is an AAAAI Fellow must also sign the application form.
