Project: Smart Visualization algorithms for numerical engineering design
Position Description:
The DORA project (Dimension – Optimization – Reduction – Analysis), MAS lab of École Centrale Paris offers a postdoctoral position of 24 months long in the field of numerical Engineering design. Candidates must have an expertise in Applied Mathematics in the field of Scientific Computing or estimation/statistics/learning.
This disciplinary subject has been proposed because of the recurrent need by industrial people of decision-making tools allowing for the fast exploration of admissible design space. Ideally, an engineer expects to request a decision-making system in order to find a (or the) wished designs subject to dimensioning, performance and cost constraints. Such a system is a coherent integrated environment made of components coming from different fields: reduced order representations of Finite Elements Fields, high-dimensional visualization, scoring, feature extraction, learning…
Position Funding:
This postdoc position is funded by the CSDL project, Pöle de Compétitivité System@tic from Région Ile-de- France
Starting & Closing Date & Duration:
From Sept to Dec 2009 – 24 months funding

Position Objectives:
The aim of this postdoc is to design a proof-of-concept software environment for the fast exploration of admissible design space (subject to constraints), feature searching, extraction and visualization, FE solution clustering and optimization “on-the-fly” from very low-order representations of FE solutions parameterized by design variables.
