The MPIE Ford Foundation Scholarship is a need-based scholarship for African American/Black, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander, and Hispanic students. The primary purpose of this scholarship is to attract capable and promising minority students to pursue teaching careers.
I. General Eligibility Criteria
a. Must demonstrate financial need and be cleared by the UCF Office of Student Financial Assistance to receive financial aid.
b. Must be a member of the following racial/ethnic groups: African American/Black, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic/Latino.
c. Must be a resident of the state of Florida.
d. Must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien.
e. Must be admitted to and attending the UCF College of Education as an undergraduate degree seeking student.
f. Must be enrolled as a full-time student (at least 12 hours) in the term in which the award is received.
g. For scholarship eligibility and renewal, a participant must have and maintain at least a 2.5 gpa and demonstrate financial need.

b. Proof of residency (copy of Florida Driver’s License, Green Card, Passport)
c. Transcripts for all colleges attended
d. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
d. Two letters of recommendation
e. Current resume

III. Receipt of Application and Supporting Documents
The application and all supporting documents must be received in the MPIE office on or before the deadline (Fall--July 1, Spring--November 15). Applications may be delivered via the U.S. Mail (and postmarked by deadline), faxed, or hand delivered. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
IV. Scholarship Nominations
A screening committee will review each application and the supporting documentation received. This committee will nominate candidates. The nominees will be required to submit to an interview. Recipients will be selected from those applicants interviewed.
V. Scholarship Awards
a. Currently, the award is up to $1300 per semester (pending availability of funds).
b. Students are eligible to receive a scholarship for a maximum of two consecutive years (pending availability of funds).
c. MPIE will notify all applicants of the status of their application via letter.
VI. Payment of Scholarship Awards
Scholarship awards will be disbursed by the Office of Student Financial Assistance to eligible students each academic term once all scholarship requirements are met. The Office of Student Financial Assistance will determine your total award amount based on your unmet financial need.
