The Department of Solar Physics at the National Space Institute of Technical University of Denmark seeks a Senior Scientist specializing in observational geomagnetism with special emphasis on development and operation of geomagnetic measurement stations.
-Operation, monitoring and development of geomagnetic measurement stations in Denmark and Greenland
-Calibration, quality control, securing and archiving of geomagnetic data as well as distribution for scientific and commercial applications
-Scientific analysis of geomagnetic measurements and publication of results with special emphasis on data with relevance to Denmark, Greenland, The Arctic region and geomagnetic satellites
Position Eligibility:
-The candidate is expected to hold a PhD degree or to be educated and qualified on a similar level
-The candidate is expected to hold at least 5 years experience in collecting and processing geomagnetic data for scientific and commercial purposes
-The candidate is expected to be familiar with design and development of magnetometers in an arctic environment
-It would be beneficial if the candidate has experience in in operation and development of geomagnetic stations in Denmark and/or Greenland.
-It would be desirable if the candidate is mastering Danish as well as English. Some travelling activity must be expected and the communication in the field work will typically be undertaken in Danish while English will be the main language in relation to international scientific activity.
-In the assessment of the candidates, special consideration will be given to
the candidate’s qualification for handling the special, function-related assignment(s) that are associated with the position scientific production, research potential and ability to lead and develop a research team
-the ability to teach
-the ability to promote and utilize research results
-an all-round experience basis, including international experience
-the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
