France: The Eiffel Scholarships For International & Home Students By Science Po

The Eiffel scholarship programme, launched in January 1999 by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, is aimed at foreign students whose outstanding ability has been recognised by French institutions of higher education who then wish to host these students for the rest of their studies. The programme is primarily designed to provide education in France for future decision makers in both the private sector and in the national administrations of emerging countries.

Scholarship Eligibility:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives priority to candidates from emerging countries and above all to those who are underrepresented in French universities and higher education institutions: Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and new members of the EU and the Middle East.

Applications received from students currently studying abroad are prioritised over those from students already living in France.

Students are unable to apply directly for the Eiffel Scholarship. Applications
must be made through a higher education institution. If you are studying in two
higher education institutions, you can only submit a single application. In
order to apply, you already need to have been offered a place at Sciences Po.
For your application to be successful, it is therefore essential that you
respect our deadlines.

Sciences Po only proposes those candidates whose profiles match the priorities of the Eiffel scholarship. If you are offered a place to study at

Sciences Po, we will inform you whether your application will be sent on to Egide (the organisation in charge of this scholarship).

Candidates must be under 30 years of age.

Candidates wishing to go on to teach or carry out research are not eligible for this scholarship, as other funding programmes are open to them.

Students who already receive a grant or scholarship from the French government may not apply.

Students who have previously applied for an Eiffel scholarship and who have been unsuccessful may not re-apply, even if they change their field of studies.

Scholarship Value:
The monthly grant is €1181.
The Eiffel Scholarship does not cover tuition fees. Students offered a place to study at Sciences Po who receive the scholarship are therefore responsible for paying the annual tuition fees.

Scholarship Duration:
The Eiffel Scholarship is awarded for the period necessary to complete the course to which students have applied. This is subject to students fulfilling the academic obligations during each year of the course.

Closing Date: November 24, 2009.

Scholarship Applications:
Students who wish to be proposed for the scholarship by Sciences Po after having been offered a place must send the Eiffel Scholarship application form with their application to Sciences Po. It is the candidates’ responsibility to complete the first three pages of the application and to provide the necessary documentation. Incomplete applications will not be processed (and will therefore not be forwarded on to Egide).

The deadline for applications set by Sciences Po, November 24, 2009, is not the date on which applications must be received by Egide. This is because it is necessary to have been offered a place at Sciences Po in order to be eligible for the Eiffel Scholarship. Applications received after this date will not be processed.
