Flagship Collaboration Fund
The A$114 million Flagship Collaboration Fund was established to facilitate the involvement of the broader Australian research community in addressing the ambitious goals of the National Research Flagships.
The Flagship Collaboration Fund offers top-up and full scholarships – students should clearly indicate which they are applying for. International students may apply but must be able to show evidence of enrolment in an Australian university.
Energy Transformed Flagship priorities
The Energy Transformed Flagship has nominated the following priority areas for postgraduate scholarships commencing in early 2010:
Priority areas and CSIRO supervisor
Greenhouse gas and carbon balance of algal biofuels, Dr Tom Beer
Biofuels and carbon economics for regional energy self-sufficiency: land use change, trade-offs and carbon offsets under climate change scenarios, Dr Luis C Rodriguez
Novel, High Charge-Capacity Conducting Polymers based on Polyaniline grown in Protic Ionic Liquids for Advanced Energy Storage Applications. Dr Graeme Snook
Designing Super Ionic Liquids to survive extreme electrochemical and thermal conditions for use in new high temperature applications. Dr Tony Hollenkamp
Distributed Machine Learning for Smart Grids: Automatically detecting events in complex networks, Dr Oliver Obst

Selection criteria
The main selection criteria for scholarships will be the relevance of the proposed work to the needs of the Flagship and the quality of the student.
When applying for a scholarship, students should indicate which of these areas their proposed research is relevant to.
If a student’s research is not directly relevant to any of these areas, their application must clearly state how it is aligned with the work of the Flagship.
Closing date
