Through a Strategic Award from the Wellcome Trust, the University of Cambridge has established a 4-year PhD Programme within the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR). Two Wellcome Trust funded studentships will be available in October 2010. We also expect to be able to offer two 4-year MRC funded studentships. The major themes of the Programme are: misfolded proteins and disease, intracellular membrane traffic, autoimmune disease and haematopoietic stem cell biology. The initial year of training involves in-depth analysis of topics of research relevant to the overall themes of the programme, and 3 mini-projects in research laboratories attached to each of the programme themes. Students can then make an informed choice of their 3-year thesis project and complete their PhD in the 4-year period.
