Overview
Scholarship applications are invited from interested Kenyans wishing to study at Japanese Graduate Schools, Universities, Colleges of Technology and Specialized Training Colleges from financial year 2011 (April 2011 ~). Under the scholarship, tuition fees, air fares and an adequate living allowance will be paid by the Japanese Government.
RESEARCH STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships to study for Masters or Doctoral degrees or post-graduate research in Japanese graduate institutions.
FIELDS OF STUDY
Applicants must apply to study the same or related field as that studied at undergraduate or master’s level, including both natural sciences and humanities.
Must be fields of study available for study and research in Japanese universities. Most fields of study available elsewhere are also available in Japanese universities.
QUALIFICATIONS
(a) Kenyan born on or after April 2, 1976
(b) Holder of a Bachelor’s degree (first class) or a Master’s degree

Scholarships for KCSE graduates interested in pursuing technology and engineering courses in Japan. College of Technology certificates are comparable to non-degree “Higher Diplomas”.

Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Communication and Network Engineering, Material Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering and other fields
QUALIFICATIONS
(a) Kenyan born between April 2, 1989 and April 1, 1994
(b) Minimum of KCSE Mean Grade “A Minus” with grades “A Minus” in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
NB. College of Technology is not university. A few applicants may have their scholarship extended to bachelor’s degree subject to screening, good performance and other factors. But there is no prior guarantee for such extension.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING COLLEGE STUDENT
Scholarships for KCSE graduates interested in pursuing professional training courses in Japan. Specialized Training College certificates are comparable to non-degree “Diplomas”.

HOW TO APPLY
Prospective applicants should read the details carefully and download FREE application forms from the website http://www.studyjapan.go.jp/en/toj/toj0302e.html or pick the forms from Japan Information and Culture Centre situated within the premises of the Embassy of Japan along Mara Road, Upper Hill in Nairobi. Documents to be submitted are listed on the application guideline and must be accompanied by a copy of birth certificate. The form and the documents may be hand delivered or posted but must be received by the Scholarships Desk before the deadline: 5 pm on Friday May 14, 2010. Applicants are advised to apply long before the deadline.
