Japanese Government Scholarships for Ethiopian Students in Undergraduate Programme

Overview

Monbukagakusho , the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers various scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan. In Ethiopia, the Ministry offers scholarship programs for Undergraduate Students.

IMPORTANT:
The three MEXT scholarship programs are now open and applications can be submitted up until 31 May 2010.

Only those who with ETHIOPIAN NATIONALITY may apply through the Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia. NON ETHIOPIAN citizens should apply through the Japanese Embassy/Consulates in their country of citizenship.

The Embassy of Japan in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia only offers Research Students Scholarship, Undergradute Students Scholarship and College of Technology Students Scholaship, and the Embassy will NOT accept applications for other programs.

Please DO NOT send original certificates as the Embassy CANNOT return application documents.

This scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to spend up to 5 years at a Japanese college or university as an undergraduate degree student in one of 2 fields of study:

Fields of Study Social Sciences and Humanities; Natural Sciences
Deadline May 31, 2010
Interview & Test Date Mid July
Qualifications See No. 2 of the Application Guideline. The Embassy will NOT process any application that does not meet the standards in the Guideline.

Terms of Scholarship See No. 3 of the Application Guideline.

Benefits See No. 4 of the Application Guideline.


Application Procedure Applicants must submit sets of documents as enumerated in No. 8 of the Application Guideline to the Embassy of Japan no later than May 31, 2010. Incomplete application and and application received after this date will NOT be processed.

The application documents must be MAILED to the embassy. Documents submitted in person will NOT be accepted. The mailing address of the Embassy is:

1st Stage

1. Document evaluation.
2. Standardized written examination for those who pass the document screening.
3. Interview for those who pass the written examination.
(Those who pass each step will be called to the next step.).

2nd Stage

Final Selection by the authorities in Tokyo: This decision is FINAL
