Overview
The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology comprises seven research programmes with about 125 employed. The Microbiology Programme is responsible for research and education within the areas of molecular microbiology and molecular genetics. Within the programme there are currently 4 different research groups with a total of about 35 researchers.
Eligible candidates
Applicants should have a Masters exam in a relevant area of biology or microbiology. The decision on a successful application will be based on an evaluation of the applicants’ ability to successfully complete the research studies. It is very important that the applicant has a good knowledge of molecular microbiology and microbial genetics. Your ability to work within a group in important and you must also be able to communicate orally and in writing in English. The successful applicant must be able to teach in English. An ability to teach in Swedish will be a merit.
The projects will involve using microbial genetics and microbiological approaches to generate knowledge that can be used to predict and prevent the development of antibiotic resistance. The main supervisor is Prof. Diarmaid Hughes.
The holder of the position will devote most time to research training. The position will involve that the candidate performs other duties at the department, including teaching and administrative duties as required, up to a maximum of 20% of the position.
Employment in the position is dependent on the student fulfilling the requirements for entry and acceptance to the graduate education programme. Requirements for graduate students are contained in the Higher Education Chapter 5, paragraphs 1-7, and in the University Rules and Regulations.
