Overview
Three PhD positions in Database Technology
at the Department of Information Technology.
We are looking for 3 PhD students for the project area
Scalable search and analysis in streaming data
The main goal of this project is to develop general software systems for efficient and scalable processing of data from different kinds of high volume data streams produced by, e.g., industrial or scientific equipment. It is intended to develop such software systems based on Data Stream Management Systems (DSMS) and the semantic web model. The project is expected to produce novel methods and software for scalable search and data mining in high volume data streams. During the processing various methods are applied (e.g. statistical) to identify when certain properties appear in streaming data.
Eligible candidates
A successful candidate should have a master of science in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent. Furthermore, it is desirable if the applicant has knowledge in techniques for searching, indexing, and mining in large databases. Good skills in oral and written English are required.
The PhD positions are for a maximum of five years and include departmental duties at a level of at most 20% (typically teaching). Further information: http://www.teknat.uu.se and http://www.it.uu.se.
