We invite applications for a Research Fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Collaborative Applied Mathematics (OCCAM, www.maths.ox.ac.uk/occam). OCCAM has been established with substantial funding from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Global Research Partnership (GRP). The Centre, which is part of the Mathematical Institute, is allied to a global network of mathematicians and it has a symbiotic relationship with other scientific communities which have a need for problem-solving mathematics both within the University of Oxford and beyond.

The position is available from 1 October 2010 or as soon as possible afterwards, and will last for 3 years. There is the possibility of further extension for up to 1 year depending on the renewal of OCCAM’s core funding. The successful applicant will be an exceptional researcher, who will conduct research in applied and computational mathematics associated with one of the following areas:

•Methodologies
•Resources, energy and the environment
•Biosciences and bioengineering
•Materials science and engineering
