Overview
A new International PhD program - supported by the Polish Foundation of Science - is offered by the Faculties of Chemistry of Warsaw University of Technology and University of Warsaw, Poland. The program designed in cooperation with well-recognized international research Partner institutions is entitled
"Towards Advanced Functional Materials and Novel Devices
– Joint UW and WUT International PhD Programme"
Subjects of thesis are divided into five work-packages reflecting increasing complexity of the studied materials:
•New reagents for synthesis and components for functional materials.
•Design and characterization of materials.
•Semiconducting materials, charge storage and organic light emitting devices.
•Bioactive molecules for medicine and food.
•Biosensing materials and devices.
Students from all countries are invited to apply. The Program aims to train future scientists able to work in highly competitive environment and with abilities to work across disciplines. The PhD students will present results on international thematic conferences to a broad international scientific audience and publish them in the international, peer-reviewed journals. Two workshops will be organized at the end of second year and in the fourth year of studies with participation of researchers from Partner Institutions. The aim is to promote scientific career among young people and initiate collaboration between research teams in Poland.
Requirements
17 PhD students will be selected in open international competition available to Polish and foreign applicants either holding an MSc degree or expected to receive such a degree in the nearest future.
•Applicants should hold a Master of Science (MSc), a master of engineering (MEng) or an equivalent degree in chemistry, material science or related field at start date of the PhD programme and no longer than 5 years before. It is not necessary to hold the degree at the time of application; however, the Applicant will have to be awarded the degree prior to the start of the program.
•A copy of an official transcript of your academic record from your university.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Applications from all countries are invited.
Up to 17 students will be admitted to the first or second year of the International PhD studies. The successful candidates will be able to choose a Principal Supervisors and select the subject of the project.
Benefits
A fellowship of 3000 PLN/month (tax-free) + 500 PLN/month (insurance) is offered, which compares well with the average salary in Poland. An additional allowance of 1500 PLN /month will be provided for the stay at the foreign partner institution.
Tuition fees for all coursework and health insurance are covered by the fellowship. The University will assist in finding accommodation.
