Overview
Queen Mary is pleased to be able to offer 56 joint PhD scholarships in co-operation with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) for 2011. These scholarships are available for students who would like to study for their PhD at Queen Mary.
Under this scheme Queen Mary, University of London provides a scholarship to cover all tuition fees and the CSC provides living expenses and one return flight ticket to successful applicants.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for these awards applicants must:
◦Be a Chinese national;
◦Want to study a PhD at Queen Mary in one of our research areas;
◦Be a student at any Chinese Universities or research institutions that are eligible for CSC scholarships;
◦Meet CSC’s other criteria for the scholarships.
Allocations of the Scholarship
Queen Mary’s co-funded scholarships for 2011 are available for students who would like to study their PhD in the following departments or schools:
◦School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science
◦School of Engineering and Materials Science
◦Department of Physics
◦School of Mathematical Sciences
◦School of Biological and Chemical Sciences
◦Department of Geography
◦School of Business and Management
◦School of Languages, Linguistics, and Film
◦William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and The London, Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry
◦Institute of Dentistry at Barts and The London, Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry
◦Institute of Cancer at Barts and The London, Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry
◦Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine at Barts and The London, Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry
We have allocated some CSC/QMUL scholarships to our partner Chinese universities.
The allocations of the scholarship are details as follows:
◦8 scholarships for students from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications for research in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science
◦2 scholarships for students from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China for research in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science
◦2 scholarships for students from Southeast University for research in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science
◦2 scholarship for a student from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics for research in the School of Engineering and Materials Science
◦1 scholarship for a student from Dalian University of Technology for research in the School of Engineering and Materials Science
◦1 scholarship for a student from Harbin Institute of Technology for research in the School of Engineering and Materials Science
◦1 scholarship for a student from Sichuan University for research in the School of Engineering and Materials Science
◦1 scholarship for a student from East China University of Science and Technology for research in the School of Engineering and Materials Science
◦2 scholarships for a student from Xiamen University for research in the School of Business and Management
◦3 scholarships for students from Peking University for research in the Department of Physics
◦3 scholarships for students from Sichuan University China for research in the Department of Physics
We also welcome students from any Chinese university or research institute eligible for CSC funding to apply for the scholarship and study for their PhD at Queen Mary.

1.Applicants should consult the international office in their own university in China on the internal application procedure for this scholarship scheme before applying to QMUL.
2.Applicants should refer to CSC website: http://www.csc.edu.cn/ for detailed information on CSC’s official application procedure.
3.Applications to QMUL should be made on the China Scholarship Council application form:
