Thank you for your interest in postdoctoral research at IIASA. Online applications are now being accepted for the 2011 program. Please note the closing date is 28 February, 2011 - applications received after the deadline can unfortunately not be considered.
Research Proposal
Every year postdoctoral scholarships are available for research on topics related to the IIASA research agenda.
Below the overview of the application procedure, the relevant links for the application form and the additional material upload can be found.
An essential part of the application is the research plan outlining the intended work at IIASA and its relevance for IIASA's agenda. Candidates are required to develop and submit a research proposal that interfaces their own research interests with the research agenda of one of the various activities pursued at IIASA.
It is highly recommend that applicants contact their potential scientific host(s) prior to submitting their application.
Application Procedure
1) Form
Please download and save the empty Adobe PDF application form on your computer from:

2) Material
Complete (and save) your copy of the PDF application form as well as prepare any accompanying materialincluding copies of two most recent publications.
3) Submission
You may submit the completed application (and any additional material) via the upload web link:
http://www.iiasa.ac.at/pdocs/applic/upload
Please note the closing date: 28 February, 2011 (24:00 CET).
Reference Letters
Two letters of reference should be provided before the application deadline on 28 February, 2011. The applicants are responsible for asking the reference givers and to upload the letters in PDF format using the same upload link as above

In order to be able to upload your completed application as well as any accompanying documents for review, please enter your full name, and Email address below.
An automatically generated Email will be sent to you, specifying a personalized link with which you will able to upload your application information.
Evaluation criteria
- The quality of the proposed research.
- The relevance for ongoing or planned research activities at IIASA. Proposals relevant to two or more IIASA programs are possible and encouraged.
- Candidates' academic merit and potential for successful research (graduate record, publication record, and letters of recommendation).
- A demonstrated ability to think and work independently and in a team.
Candidates' depth of experience with interdisciplinary research.
- The degree to which a candidate would contribute to the long-term balance of postdoctoral positions in terms of programs, gender, and country of origin.
Selection
The awards, which are of up to 2 years' duration, are the result of a competitive process and carry special recognition both within and outside the Institute.
All candidates will be informed on the outcome of their application around May 2011.
All information submitted will be held in strict confidence.
