Overview
The position concerns development and synthesis of new fuel cell catalyst materials, structural characterization and electrochemical evaluation for fuel cell applications. Fuel cells offer an energy efficient means to convert a chemical fuel to electricity. Recently, we have developed a new class of nanostructured catalysts that are free from platinum and show promising performance characteristics as cathode in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. The synthesis of the catalyst material offers a number of variables and we are interested in understanding the importance of these on the structure of the materials and its performance.
The position is centered at the interdisciplinary interface of nanoscience and nanotechnology, materials science and sustainable energy systems all areas of advance at Chalmers. It is limited to maximum four and a half years, which corresponds to full-time research studies during four years. In addition, teaching in the undergraduate or masters curricula at Chalmers could be included corresponding to a maximum of half a year of teaching distributed over the duration of the position.
Required qualifications
A suitable background for candidates is a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering with Engineering Physics, or an equivalent education, and a strong interest in experimental materials science.
Application procedure
The application shall be written in English and include the following items:
1.An application of a maximum of one A4 page containing your specific qualifications for the position
2.Attested copies of education certificates, including grade reports and other documents
3.Curriculum Vitae
4.Letters of recommendation and name of reference persons (optional)
The application shall be sent electronically as pdf or zipped documents. Please use the button at the foot of the page to reach the application form.
If any material is not available electronically or cannot be transferred to pdf format, the material can be sent as a hard copy to Registrar. The applicants name and the reference number (2010/287) must be written on the first page of the application.
