India: Canadian Studies Programme Development Grant

Overview

The objective of the Programme Development Grant is to encourage scholarly inquiry and professional academic activities with the objective of contributing to the development and expansion of Canadian Studies at Indian Universities. Activities included for grant consideration are:

■Conferences and Symposia
■Lecture series and publication of associated proceedings
■International travel related to visiting lectureships of a minimum duration of one term.

Applications for other activities to promote or expand Canadian Studies are also welcome.

Value:

Grants are provided to defray direct costs related to professional activities initiated by the institution.

Eligibility:

Universities in India interested in the development or expansion of Canadian Studies at their Institution.

Application Procedures:

The Principal Programme Manager (Canadian Studies Programme Director) must complete the enclosed application form and send it to the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute in New Delhi with a covering letter and original application plus six (6) copies of the following application form.


Disbursement of Funds:

Grants are provided to defray direct costs related to professional activities initiated by the institution. These costs include:

■Domestic travel of visiting Canadianists
■Materials, printing, office-related charges and computer time
■Publishing fees.

Application Deadline:

Competition opens on August 14, 2010 and closes on Dec.15, 2010.

Selection:

A Selection Committee in India considers applications in accordance with appropriate procedures, guidelines and conditions. DFAIT provides final approval to the programme committee’s recommendations.
