Europe: Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, Joint European Masters program in CLINICAL LINGUISTICS (EMCL)

Student Application: EMCL invites students worldwide to apply for participation in the program. Being part of the Erasmus Mundus initiative of the European Union, the EMCL program offers Erasmus Mundus scholarships for students accepted to the program.General deadline for student applications is always November 15 prior to the academic year in which you want to start the EMCL program.

The result of the selection procedure is preliminarily announced in January of the following year. The EU will then confirm the selection by early summer before the program starts September 1.Please note that student applicants do not sent their application documents directly to the co-ordinating university, but to uni-assist, an agency specialised in managing applications to German universities.If you wish to apply, please send your application directly to this address:

Uni-assist requires the payment of a non-refundable fee for your application. The general fee amounts to €55, applicants from EU countries are charged €30 and applicants from the People’s Republic of China who have already undergone the application procedure with the Akademische Prüfstelle (APS) in Beijing are charged €25. Please be aware that uni-assist will only start processing your application after having received the application fee! For details about the payment mode please contact the FAQ section of uni-assist which is available in different languages.



Any technical questions about the application procedure will only be answered by uni-assist. Questions related to the EMCL program will be answered by the local co-ordinators at the participating universities (see contact).

General requirements

The requirement for admission is at least three years of higher education (BA, BSc or equivalent) with an emphasis on speech and language pathology, linguistics, biomedical sciences, psychology or special education.Proof of English proficiency
A TOEFL-record of 575 (paper-based), 232 (computer-based) and 90 (internet-based) is required for all non-native English applicants. Non-native applicants can be exempted from the TOEFL requirement if their language of instruction in a higher education institution was English.As an alternative, a 6,5 IELTS score is accepted instead of TOEFL.


Required documents
For your application, please use the application form which you can download on the right. In addition to the filled in application form, the following documents are required:
two extremely supportive letters of recommendation. (Please note that we will only accept letters of recommendation that confirm to the common standards, i.e. they should be written on an official letterhead of the respective institution, contain the signatures of your referees and should reach us in a sealed and signed envelope.
Enclose the letters as you receive them from your referees and do not open the envelopes.)
copies of your academic curriculum and a copy of your university degree certificate (certified translations if the originals are not in English, German, Finnish or Dutch)copies of an English language test (TOEFL or IELTS)
letter of motivation to enroll in the EMCL program (included in the application form)
a copy of your passport or personal ID

Scholar Application: Being part of the Erasmus Mundus initiative of the European Union, the EMCL program offers Erasmus Mundus mobility grants for visiting scholars from non-EU countries accepted to the program.
We invite scholars from non-EU countries working in the fields of:

language processing
impaired and/or unimpaired language acquisition
neurolinguistics and/or
clinical linguisticsto
