The U.S. Embassy announces the opening of competition for the Fulbright Research Program for academic year 2010-2011.
Fulbright Post-Doctoral Research Grants offer Lebanese scholars the opportunity of using a U.S. university's research facilities, libraries and laboratories to conduct individual research and/or develop a particular research project. Grants are usually from six to nine months.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Lebanese citizenship
2. Doctoral degree or its equivalent.
3. Speak and understand English with enough facility to carry out proposed research.
4. Member of the teaching staff at any university in Lebanon.
Holders of U.S. green cards/passports are not eligible for Fulbright grants.
Fulbright grants do not cover dependent travel costs.
Preference is given to candidates who have not received their Ph.D. degrees from a U.S. university and/or conducted research for six months or more, during the past five years, in the U.S.
Selection Procedure:
All applications are reviewed by a bi-national review committee comprised of U.S. officials and scholars in the field of specialization of the applicants. The review criteria include the quality of the research plan, appropriateness of academic background and adequacy of language ability. Applicants selected for an award will be nominated for affiliation with an appropriate U.S. institution.
