The mission of the Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology (SMN) at the University of Oslo (UiO) is to conduct cross-disciplinary research on novel materials focusing on fundamental science and addressing material challenges for improving components and concepts for energy, environment and information technology. Job description:

One researcher position is available on the project: -Novel Silicon deposition processes by ALD (SiALD)-. The primary project objective is to: develop efficient processes for deposition of silicon containing materials by ALD. Emphasis will also be on deposition of SiC, Si3N4, SiNC, SiOC and SiO2. The main focus for the research position will be on Characterization where reaction mechanisms are investigated using spectroscopic techniques.

Eligible Candidates

We are looking for highly motivated and competent candidates with a strong background in the field of optical molecular spectroscopy. A completed doctoral degree in natural sciences is a prerequisite for appointment.

Experience with IR and Raman spectroscopy and laser systems relevant for the instrumentation dedicated for the project is highly desirable. The candidate will collaborate closely with organic and inorganic chemists at UiO and SINTEF (www.sintef.no), who are dedicated to synthesis of silicon precursors. The duration of the researcher position is 1,5 years in full time or 3 years in 50% position. The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway. The appointment is pending the execution of an agreement between the partners.
