Overview
This 1-year post doctoral position on the topic of “Creative design for innovation in science and technology” falls within the Marie Curie DESIRE initial training network.
DESIRE aims to make theoretical contributions to the field of creative design by bringing together expertise in human computer interaction, psychology, arts and design. The network aims to advance our understanding of creative design processes. This will lead to the elaboration of (i) theories and models of creative processes in general, and those involved in creative problem solving in particular, and (ii) a toolbox of methods, techniques and systems to support both creative design processes and creativity training.
The network places particular emphasis on the research training to be provided to successful candidates. Thus, each researcher will benefit from a wide ranging training program that will take advantage of both local and network wide activities, as well as of conferences and summer schools. You will contribute to the integration of network research across teams, topics and application domains:
- To carry out research on a theme relevant to “Creative design for innovation in science and technology” as this is sketched out by the DESIRE network and its contributing PhD projects.
- To strengthen thematic links within the DESIRE network by pursuing possible collaboration and joint work with PhD projects of the network (see http://www.desirenetwork.eu/ and especially projects 5 and 6 based at the TU/e and project 13 based at Philips).
- To co-organize together with the supervising team an international conference on the topic of Creative Design (follow up to this year’s event organized at Copenhagen, www.desireconference.org).

Benefits
As an employee of the university you will receive a competitive salary as well as a broad package of fringe benefits (including excellent sport facilities and child care). A salary is offered between € 2861 and € 3315 gross per month (salary scale 10, CAO Dutch Universities) depending on your knowledge, skills and experience. Moreover 8% bonus share (holiday supplement) and 8.3% bonus share (end-of-year allowance) is provided annually. Assistance for finding accommodation can be given.

Additional Requirements You may come from any background relative to the topic of creative design of technologies, e.g. Cognitive Science, Technology Management, Architecture and Industrial Design, Engineering.
Mobility requirements
Positions are open to candidates of any nationality, regardless of gender, race, disability, etc. on the following conditions:
- You must be a national of a State other than the Netherlands.
- In case you are holding a Dutch and another nationality, you will be able to be hosted by TU/e in the case that you have not resided in the Netherlands during the previous 5 years.
- You may not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc) in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the appointment at TU/e. Short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
Eligible candidates
Eligibility depends on the following conditions:
- You must - either be in possession of a doctoral degree, irrespective of the time taken to acquire it, - or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience.
- In both cases, you should have less than 5 years of full-time equivalent research experience. This is measured from the date when you obtained the degree which formally entitles you to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the research training is provided, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate was envisaged.
