Overview
We are seeking candidates for a Ph.D research opportunity within an innovative research project at the Centre for Wireless Network Design (CWiND) in University of Bedfordshire, which will be jointly runing with Grid Research Group at Applied University of Western Switzerland in Fribourg. The aim of the project is to develop sustainable and optimal scheduling poilicies for radio access networks based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The research involves the subject areas of wireless communication, operations research, and distributed and parallel computing.
The tution fee to be charged by University of Bedfordshire for EU students will be covered (paid) by the joint scholarship. The successful candidate will also receive a bursary of 13200 sterling pounds per annum, tax free, for 3 years. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the PhD program at the Institute for Research in Applicable Computing of University of Bedfordshire, and he/she will need to spend a vast majority of his/her time in Grid Research group at Applied University of Western Switzerland in Fribourg. There are no teaching obligations.
A suitable background for the applicant is a strong undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Mathematics or other related fields (e.g., Telecommunication and/or Computer Networks). Candidates must have a strong background in object oriented programming and should have good understanding of parallel computing. The position is immadiately available.
