Junior Researchers/PhD’s at the Science System Assessment Department, Rathenau Institute

The Rathenau Instituut focuses on the influence of science and technology on our daily lives and maps its dynamics; through independent research and debate.

For our research theme on the dynamics of large scale multi-actor research programmes, the Science System Assessment department is looking for 4 junior researchers PhD’s

Description of the position:

Over the last two decades, we see new ways of funding and programming of research and knowledge production. Large scale research programmes are set up, characterized by collaboration between academia, industry and societal actors. These programmes aim to develop knowledge which contributes to economic development or societal problem solving. In close cooperation with a team of senior and junior researchers, you will conduct research into the dynamics and effects of such large-scale multi-actor research programmes. There will be a focus on programs in the field of both climate adaptation and water research. The research is carried out in cooperation with KWR Watercycle Research Institute, Delft University of Technology and the Free University of Amsterdam. We expect you to prepare a PhD thesis, based on this research.

Requirements:

You have a master’s degree in a relevant field, strong skills in qualitative or quantitative research methods and an interest in science and technology policy. Knowledge on climate change, climate adaptation and water related research is considered an advantage.


Appointment:

The positions involve temporary appointments: initially for 1 year, with the intention of extending the appointment with another 3 years. The maximum gross monthly salary coming with a full-time appointment will amount to € 3,755, scale 10, Collective Agreement for Dutch Universities, excluding 8% holiday pay and a 8,3 % year-end bonus.
