Applications are invited for an EPSRC Industrial CASE research studentship (DPhil) for investigation into Damage and Fracture of Composite Materials in Aircraft Engines Subjected to Impact Loading.
Candidates should have at least an upper second class degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials or Mathematics as well as an explicitly expressed affinity to solid mechanics and materials engineering. You are expected to have excellent computing skills and preferably some experience with computer aided design software and programming languages (FORTRAN and C). The studentship will be for 42 months from October 2010. The successful candidate will be registered for a higher degree at an Oxford college, leading to a doctorate. This studentship covers fees at the Home rate and provides the standard living allowance for UK residents.
