Eligibility: Students must satisfy the eligibility conditions of the CSC as well as those of the Australian School of Business.
Scholarship funding:
Successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship for study commencing in either July 2010 or March 2011. The scholarships will provide:
• the cost of full tuition fees for 3 years
• visa application fees (the scholarship covers e-visa charges where the student applies for a visa for July admission for March entry the scholarship covers the cost of a standard visa application)
• overseas student health cover and return economy airfares
• a CSC living allowance for 3 years and
• a supplementary living allowance of $8000 p.a. funded by the Australian School of Business
Key Dates:
• UNSW applications open: June 2009
• UNSW applications close 25 January 2010
• To apply for CSC funding, candiates must have a UNSW offer letter.
• Application close with CSC on 20 March
• CSC applications close: 20 March 2010
• Scholarship outcomes announced: May 2010
• Successful applicants commence: July 2010 or May 2011
UNSW application procedures:
Applicants must first register their interest in applying for admission by emailing the Australian School of Business Research Office and providing the following information:
• The discipline/s in which you are interested.
• Your resume/curriculum vitae
• Your research topic. Please attach a well-developed research proposal which should demonstrate:
1. clear aims and objectives
2. issues you would like to explore (why it is important and interesting)
3. the background literature supporting your project
4. the way your project would significantly add to the understanding of the topic
some consideration of method
5. a detailed bibliography of your background literature
6. a good command of the English language and
7. that you are capable of independent and critical thinking
• Academic transcripts for all previous degrees (at this stage it is not necessary to provide certified copies) names and contact details of referees (at least one)
• Any other relevant information available, such as *English language scores, an abstract of your thesis completed for your previous degree(s) and GRE/GMAT results (only if you have one) etc.
The Business Research Office will forward your details to the Postgraduate Research Coordinator of the relevant School/s who will inform you as to whether you should proceed to making a formal application. The School Postgraduate Research Coordinator will also help you establish a prospective supervisor.

If, after registering your interest, the School Postgraduate Research Coordinator recommends that you apply for admission you may either apply online; or complete the application form (international applicants). (see related documents)
How to apply:
The Australian School of Business welcomes expressions of interest (EOIs) from applicants intending to apply for a PhD or Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in the Australian School of Business. The aim of the EOI process is to provide you with a preliminary assessment of your application without the need for you to provide certified copies of your transcripts and to identify a potential supervisor for your research. All potential applicants must send an EOI to the Australian School of Business Research Office before formally applying for admission. On the basis of the EOI, applicants may be invited to submit a formal application for admission.
