The University of Stavanger invites applications for a three-year (or two-year) post-doctorate position in Offshore Technology – Ocean Wind Turbines, at the Faculty of Science and Technology in the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science, beginning August.1. 2010. Objective
The objective of the position is to strengthen research and to give researchers/scholars with doctorates within relevant academic field(s) opportunities for further qualification toward full professorship.
A proposed project scope outline is attached hereto. The applicant is requested to comment on the scope outline and document skills necessary to fulfill the intentions of the project. Further, the applicant must submit a description of the research project and a plan for its completion. The plan must contain information about who will assume the professional supervision of the applicant. The application must document the way in which the project will add to the applicant's competence.
Selection Criterias
The applications will be judged and assessed with respect to the relevance, quality and feasibility of the project. In addition to an evaluation of their submitted project plan and scientific work, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview.
The research project will be carried out at the University of Stavanger. It is assumed that the appointee will work full time on the project and that he/she will participate in the scholarly processes at the Department, the Faculty and at the University.
The appointee will be offered a salary according to the State Salary Code, l.pl 17.510, code 1352, LR 24, ltr. 57 - 64, of NOK 438 700 – 499 700 per annum. In special cases higher salaries may apply.
The position provides for automatic membership in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund, which offers favorable retirement benefits. Members may also apply for home investment loans at favorable interest rates.
