Exeter College proposes to elect a Queen Sofia Junior Research Fellow in Modern and Contemporary Peninsular Spanish Literature from 1 October 2011.
The Fellowship will be tenable for two years in the first instance and is renewable for a further period of one year only. The College will normally consider applications both from persons well advanced in their work for a doctorate and from those engaged in post-doctoral research. The Fellowship is open equally to men and women.
The annual stipend is £22,590 inclusive of Housing Allowance (subject to deduction if accommodation in College is offered and accepted). At the discretion of the Governing Body this amount may be reduced in the light of such other emoluments, if any, as the Fellow is receiving. The Fellow will be a member of the Governing Body and will be entitled to lunch and dinner free of charge at the Common Table. The Fellow will be eligible to be a member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
The Fellowship is intended to support those at an early stage of their academic careers, and will normally be awarded to those who have recently completed their doctoral research, or are close to completion. Candidates must not have accumulated more than six years in full-time postgraduate study or research, nor have already held a research fellowship elsewhere.
The College hopes the Fellow will accept a three-hour lecturership in Spanish, remunerated separately. Applications should be submitted in writing as soon as possible, and no later than noon on 23 February 2011 to the Academic Administrator, Exeter College, Oxford, OX1 3DP;

They should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae and the names of three referees, who should be instructed by the candidates to send references direct to Exeter College at the above address, by the closing date of noon on Wednesday 23 February 2011 .
Selected candidates will be asked to send copies of written work. The short listed candidates will be interviewed on Wednesday 27 April 2011.
