Overview
The International Space University is given funding from industry and government agencies to help support SSP students who are unable to cover all of their tuition fees. This aid is available to selected applicants, and covers a portion of their fees. It is paid directly to ISU by the sponsoring organization.
This financial aid is available for:
- applicants from developing countries
- applicants from Europe (the countries listed below have priority*)
- applicants from the United States and Canada
- applicants from ISU Affiliates
- applicants from other countries (within the limit of funds available)

Financial aid is granted on the basis of:
- academic and professional merit
- demonstrated efforts in personal fund-raising
- demonstrated financial need
SSP11 applicants need to apply online on the ISU website before 31 January 2011 if they wish to be considered for scholarship support, or before 30 April 2011 if they are not in need of financial aid. This financial aid will be given within the limit of funds available, so early application is highly recommended. The ISU Funding Committee will start granting scholarships as early as in December 2010. Please note that the relevant box on the Confidential Financial Information form of the application must be checked. It is recommended that candidates make a personal effort to raise funds enabling them to attend the program. Such initiatives are taken into consideration when ISU is allocates funding. Funding is given for help towards tuition fees only. ISU does not assist with living, travel expenses or health insurance.
Admission requirements
Applicants are assessed on the basis of their academic and professional qualifications and their achievements, as well as on their proficiency in English. Admission decision is made by the ISU Admissions Committee.
Minimum academic qualification for application is a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent, including 3 years of studies as a minimum, and awarded by an accredited university. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree under the new Bologna scheme are welcome to apply. Information on academic qualification equivalency may be obtained from the ISU Admissions Office ( admissions@isu.isunet.edu)
Only under exceptional circumstances, will appropriate professional experience in fields relevant to the main academic content of SSP be considered, by the Admissions Committee, as grounds for acceptance to the program.
Preference is given to applicants who have higher academic degrees and to applicants with professional experience in industry, government agencies or academic institutions.
Language Requirements:
At ISU courses are taught exclusively in English. Applicants who are non-native english speakers and who have not obtained a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, must demonstrate their ability to do coursework at ISU by submitting one of the following proofs of language proficiency:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum score required in TOEFL is 580 on the Paper-based test or 90 on the Internet-based test, with a minimum requirement of 20 in each section.
- The British Council/Cambridge Syndicate English Language Service test (BC/CS). For BC/CS tests, an average score of 6 with a score of 5 or more in each component must be obtained.
Applicants are permitted to submit documents different from those listed above; however, decisions regarding their validity as proof of language proficiency will be made at the discretion of the ISU Admissions Committee.
