UK DPhil Studentship in Mechanical and Matrix Properties of Cartilage 2009 – Nuffield Department of Orthopedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences for engineering students
Scholarship Introduction:
Applications are invited for a DPhil Studentship in the Nuffield Dept. of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team and be supervised by Dr Richie Gill, Mr Andrew Price and Dr Philippa Hulley. The dissertation topic should be related to the work of academics at the Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Centre.
Eligibility for Scholarship:
It is essential that candidates have: first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering (other engineering specialities, in particular Aerospace and Civil Engineering, will be considered); excellent mathematical skills; strong background in continuum mechanics and knowledge of computer programming, using a formal computer language such as C, C++ or Python. Experience with finite element analysis and excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English are also expected. Experience of developing constitutive models and using materials testing protocols and machines would be an advantage.
