Postdoctoral Fellowship: Computational Biology of Small RNAs

Job Description: The laboratory of Ramesh Pillai is seeking to recruit a Bioinformatician to participate in ongoing projects on small RNA-mediated gene silencing. Our group uses mouse genetics, biochemical and cell biology tools in thesestudies. Our data collection methods increasingly involve large-scale approaches, such as next-generation sequencing, microarrays and genomic data integration. We seek to strengthen this aspect of our studies byrecruiting a postdoctoral fellow who will have the opportunity to actively interface with wet-lab members in our group. The candidate will also have access to bioinformatics facilities and expertise at the EuropeanBioinformatics Institute (EBI), Hinxton and Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), Vienna.
Qualifications and Experience:In addition to a PhD in a related field, experience in database mining and analysis of large datasets from high-throughput sequencing or microarrays is required. Candidates should be proficient in at least one major programming language and comfortable with working in a Linux (command-line) environment. Experience with statistical data analysis using R is a plus.
Strong motivation and excellent scientific skills are essential, as well as willingness to work in a multicultural & interdisciplinary environment.
Contract: An initial contract of 1 year will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on the circumstances at the time of review.
