Sweden: VINNMER Fellowship Programme for Female Researchers 2010-2011

Overview

The long-term objective of the VINNMER programme is to help to increase the number of postgraduates that can become the leaders of the future at universities/colleges, centres, research institutes and companies. One of the weaknesses that VINNOVA has identified in the current system is that relatively few women qualify compared to the number of men. VINNMER therefore aims to increase the opportunities for women postgraduates to qualify as researchers after gaining their PhDs.

The programme is primarily aimed at women who have a PhD and who have completed their Post Doc qualification. It is not, therefore, intended for those who apply for traditional Post Doc funding directly after acquiring their PhDs. The programme applies to qualification for people who conduct needs-driven research within one of VINNOVA’s operational fields and in co-operation between a university/college and operations in the Private/public sector.

The programme will run over the period 2007-2014 and the total budget, including co-funding, is just over SEK 600 million. The programme budget is strengthened by the European Commission People FP7 - Marie Curie Actions - with €5 millions.

The programme consists of three parts:

VINNMER – Marie Curie international qualification. Relating to international collaboration between strong research and innovation environments and includes a combination of incoming and outgoing for the VINNMER Fellows. Option to apply for a planning grant.

VINNMER – Marie Curie Chair. Relating to international collaboration between strong research and innovation environments with a focus of incoming international experienced researchers as VINNMER Fellows. Option to apply for a planning grant.

VINNMER – national qualification. Relating to collaboration between universities/colleges/research institutes and the private/public sector. Calls for proposals are issued for each of these parts until 2011.Next date of assessmentLast date for application:

October 1, 2009, 14.00.
April 10, 2010, 14.00.

Erik Litborn is in charge of the programme at VINNOVA.
