Postdoctoral Fellowships in Human Immunology, University of Cape Town

Overview

The South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative performs cutting edge human immunological and genetic research in TB vaccinology.

Call for Applications

We are inviting applications from trained immunologists to join a team aiming to identify signatures of risk of TB disease, both following natural infection and following vaccination. These well-funded projects focus primarily on transcriptomics, T cell and innate immunity, and genomics. We are examining samples from large, unique infant and adolescent cohorts, and are working in collaboration with global leaders in systems biology and in innate and T cell immunology. The fellowship value will be internationally competitive.

Conditions

The candidate should have achieved the PhD degree within 5 years and should not have held any prior permanent professional or academic positions. The fellowship is initially tenable for one year and may be extended for further periods, depending on the availability of continued funding and on the academic performance of the candidate.


The successful incumbent must be prepared to comply with the University’s approved policies, procedures and practices for the postdoctoral sector.

Academic Criteria

- Ph.D. in immunology
- Good leadership, communication and teaching skills

Based on CVs and referee reports, suitable candidates will be shortlisted for interviews.
