Overview
The Advanced Environmental Biotechnology Centre (AEBC) is a newly established research centre within the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) at NTU. A multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary Research Centre of Competence supported by EDB/EWI, AEBC’score interest is aimed at developing Biotechnology solutions for Singaporean water and environmental industries. It also has special interest for marine processes and health. AEBC seeks applications from highly motivated individuals for two positions in the marine cluster at AEBC.
Research Fellow (B): For Marine Research Activities in the AEBC
The individual will have experience in marine biology/ecology. A key role of the position will be as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional program on larval settlement cues for corals, and their potential use in reef restoration. There is capacity for the person to contribute to and initiate other projects consistent with the AEBC’s goals.
Requirements:
- PhD in Marine Biology or Ecology
- Experience in marine field ecology, preferably on coral reefs
- Expertise in some or all of the following is desirable; larval biology, chemical ecology, biofouling/antifouling, restoration ecology.
- Diving and/or boating qualifications desirable
- Good planning and management skills
- Sound analytical skills
- Ability to integrate well into a team of researchers with different backgrounds and the ability to learn new techniques
- Good PR and communication skills
