Two ESRC Quota PhD Research Studentships in Economics are available at Cardiff Business School.
Cardiff Business School was ranked 4th out of 90 UK business schools in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, and 'excellent' for teaching. Specialised areas of research covered by the Economics section in which we would preferably like to receive applications are:
• Labour economics
• Macroeconomic theory and applications
• Regional Economics (especially Wales)
• International trade and finance
• Econometric theory and applications
• Financial Economics

Funding and Eligibility
This is an ESRC funded award, and includes full UK/EU tuition fees plus an enhanced doctoral stipend of about £16,290 pa (£3,000 p.a. above the standard rate).
Additional funding offered includes an ESRC Doctoral Training Allowance of £750 pa in +3 phase of PhD, and a CARBS fieldwork allowance of £750 pa for duration of +3 phase of PhD.
We are seeking exceptional applicants with a first-class or very good upper second Honours degree, or a Masters degree with an average mark of at least 65%. Both UK and EU applicants may apply. EU nationals who have been ordinarily resident in the UK throughout the 3-year period immediately preceding the start date of an award (including for the purpose of full-time education) are eligible for a full award. Other EU nationals are eligible for a fees-only award.
