Overview
The Heterogeneous Computing Laboratory at University College Dublin (UCD), as part of the IBM Exascale activity (http://www-05.ibm.com/ie/emerging_business_centre/exascale.html), is seeking a suitable postdoctoral fellow and PhD candidate. These positions will be co-funded by IRCSET and IBM through IRCSET’s Enterprise Partnership Scheme. Further details on the Enterprise Partnership Scheme can be found at http://www.ircset.ie/Default.aspx?tabid=58. Applicants must meet IRCSET’s eligibility criteria and will be assessed independently by IRCSET.
The Exascale activity will adopt a Stream Computing paradigm and will utilize streaming hardware and techniques – some of which will be developed as part of this activity. Ideally, the successful postdoctoral fellow will have a proven track record in parallel and distributed computing. They will have strong mathematical and software development skills. They should be familiar with the literature on related topics including: multi-core and multi-threading, data partitioning, resource allocation and mapping, scheduling, pipelining, data locality and data movement, communication, load-balancing, fault-tolerance, performance modeling (processors and communication networks), and parallel algorithm design. Familiarity with large-scale parallel computing and the concepts of heterogeneous and hierarchical computing is also desirable. They should show potential for managing a research programme – setting the agenda and meeting deadlines. For further information, please contact: Dr. Alexey Lastovetsky, School of Computer Science and Informatics, University College Dublin, Belfield, Dublin 4, Ireland, Alexey.Lastovetsky@ucd.ie.
