Salary : £27,319 to £29,853 per annum, pro rata, depending on skills and experience. Hours of work are 22 per week to be worked over three days
This part-time post is available from 1 June 2010 and will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2010
Applications are invited for the above post based in the School of Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new solutions to related problems, in order to further knowledge in the area of research. In particular this role requires expertise in lentiviral transfection of primary human cell culture and knowledge of confocal imaging techniques. As a senior member of the research group, the person appointed will be expected to supervise postgraduate students, regularly liaising with researchers and final year undergraduate students in the laboratory, be responsible for the training of new researchers and ensuring that project objectives are achieved.
Candidates must have a PhD in biochemistry, molecular/cellular biology or a related discipline, and specialist knowledge of current research in a relevant field. Excellent experimental, communication and people management skills are also essential.
