PhD stipend in connection with the project "Seafood proteins in the prevention of glucose intolerance and insulin resistance"

Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen and National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES) in Bergen, Norway

A PhD stipend will be available in connection with the project "Seafood proteins in the prevention of glucose intolerance and insulin resistance".

The successful candidate will be enrolled at the Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen. The PhD stipend is part of a large international project and the experimental work will take place at the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES) in Bergen, Norway and at The Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen depending on the type of experiments to be performed. The PhD student will be supervised by Professor Karsten Kristiansen, University of Copenhagen and Dr. Bjørn Liaset, NIFES.

Applicants should hold an MSc degree in nutrition, molecular biology, biology or a related area. Language skills are an asset.


An assessment committee will be appointed to evaluate the applications. The final selection of a successful candidate will be made by Dr. Bjørn Liaset and Head of Department, based on the recommendations of the evaluation committee. The successful candidate will then be requested to formally apply for enrolment as a PhD student at the PhD school of Science, University of Copenhagen.

Terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC). The starting salary for candidates with an MSc degree will be a minimum of DKK 300.174 per year (April 2010 level) plus pension contribution DKK 41.013 and the possibility to negotiate wage.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 12:00 noon Danish local time.
