Overview
A 3-year Postdoctoral fellowship is available for a highly motivated candidate in Claus Storgaard Sørensen´s Group at BRIC, University of Copenhagen
The project
We investigate the mechanisms responsible for maintenance of genomic stability in mammalian cells. Projects in the lab are based on large-scale siRNA and proteomic screens to identify novel regulators that are subsequently characterized using a range of cell biological and biochemical approaches. The postdoc will identify and characterize novel regulators of the cellular responses to DNA replication stress. The RNAi screens will be an extension of a series of screens carried out in collaboration with lab members and BRIC´s experienced staff scientists using robot automated siRNA screening in human cell lines. The major aim of the project is the subsequent characterization to understand the novel biological functions of the identified genes.
Qualifications
We are seeking a person with a PhD degree in Life Sciences. The candidate must be highly motivated to pursue a career as an independent scientist. The person must be creative with original ideas and the ability to plan and work independently. Previous experience in biochemistry and cell biology is required.
Place of work
The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen, located close to the heart of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a young, dynamic and international lab environment with approximately 10 researchers in the group. Our research facilities include modern laboratories, a number of core facilities shared between the 16 research groups and well-functioning administrative and technical support. You can find more information about the group on www.bric.ku.dk/research/sorensen_group
Terms of salary and employment
The position is for 3 years, starting February 1, 2011. Salary, supplement, pension and terms of employment follow the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central Organization. Currently, the monthly postdoc salary begins around 4.800 Euro including supplement and pension. Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reduction, if they have not lived in Denmark the last 3 years.
Application
The application must be submitted in 3 printed copies and consist of the following: 1) "Cover sheet", which can be downloaded on www.bric.ku.dk/jobs; 2) Motivated letter of application; 3) Curriculum vitae; 4) Publication list; 5) Copy of degree certificate(s).
The application must be marked "Postdoc Sorensen" and sent to BRIC, Ole Maaløes Vej 5, 2200 Copenhagen N, Denmark. Furthermore, the applicant should provide two letters of recommendation sent directly to recommend@bric.ku.dk (subject: "Postdoc Sorensen") from the supporting persons. Only printed applications received by ordinary post, in time and consisting of the above listed documents will be considered.
Application deadline: December 10, 2010 at 12.00pm.
BRIC and University of Copenhagen wish to reflect the diversity of society and welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
