Research Fellow in Emergency Care at University of the West of England (UWE).
This two year fixed-term post will drive forward research in emergency care and actively contribute to the work of the Centre for Clinical and Health Services Research.
The post requires a researcher with the ability to develop new research proposals, prepare grant applications, project manage ongoing work and to contribute to the existing strengths of the emergency care research programme. Relevant experience in applied health research is essential, and individuals with a relevant clinical background may be able to combine this post with clinical duties in a leading emergency department.
Salary: £29,853-£35,646

EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Proven experience in undertaking research in a relevant area of applied health research
• Proven experience at Grade G or equivalent in undertaking research in a higher education setting or the NHS.
• Proven experience of substantial contribution to papers in peer reviewed journals and of writing or contributing to final project reports
• Proven experience of leading/contributing to the development of grant applications and proposals for external funding
• Proven experience of having undertaken data analysis using computer packages, e.g. SPSS or STATA or NVIVO or similar
• Proven experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate learners in the healthcare professions
Desirable
• Proven experience in undertaking research in the area of emergency care
• Clinical experience in the field of emergency care
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
• High-level verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
• Excellent inter-personal skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Windows applications, email and the internet.
• Good knowledge of research ethics and governance procedures.
• Experience of NHS research ethics and governance procedures.
• Established teaching ability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
• 1st degree
• Higher degree with research component or postgraduate qualification in research or equivalent knowledge or experience.
Desirable
• Doctoral degree
• Recognised teaching qualification
• Clinical qualification relevant to practice in emergency care
OTHER
• To attend training courses
• An enhanced CRB check is required for this post.
