Overview
The Glasgow School of Art is committed to delivering world-class education and research in architecture, fine art, design, and related subjects in order to make a significant economic, cultural and social contribution locally, nationally and internationally. Our objective is to develop research of international standing which supports learning; involves a high proportion of GSA staff; and engages with industry, community and the professional creative sectors.
As Research Fellow, you will make a significant contribution to the development and direction of research within the Mackintosh Environmental Architecture Research Unit (MEARU), to help achieve a strong and sustainable research base from which to generate research and knowledge transfer income.
With an international research profile, you will be a Principal Investigator, and be able to develop, attract and manage major externally funded research projects, including supporting less experienced research colleagues as Co-Investigators.
Educated to postgraduate level in Architecture, you will also have the ability to attract and manage the development and delivery of research and Knowledge Exchange projects, both individual and collaborative, with the potential to achieve the highest levels of quality.
Salary: Grade 7 £34,607-£43,840 per annum

Experience and knowledge
• The post holder must demonstrate academic ability and should possess a recognised postgraduate qualification in architecture and/or environmental design.
• Current knowledge of research in Architecture and the Built Environment.
• Current knowledge of research assessment and funding systems
• Experience of working in a higher education research environment in architecture, including the writing of successful funding applications
• Active researcher in the field of environmental architecture.
• Significant experience of funded research and/or grant application and development
Skills
The postholder will be a motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and tenacity, and experience of working in creative, technical and scientific disciplines.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to agreed objectives, and to tight deadlines
• Good interpersonal skills
• Proven analytical, organisational, and communication skills
• IT skills including word processing and presentation
• Concern for the ethical implications of research
• High levels of motivation
