Overview
The Center for Biological Sequence Analysis conducts basic research in the field of bioinformatics and systems biology and employs a staff of +100 with a highly multi-disciplinary profile (molecular biologists, biochemists, medical doctors, physicists, computer scientists, and technical staff). The center represents one of the largest bioinformatics and systems biology groups in academia in Europe.
The successful candidate will be based at the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby. The project will involve the further development of a protein bioinformatics infrastructure to functionally discriminate protein isoforms and study impact of SNPs or somatic mutations.
The applicant should have a strong computational background with experience in building pipelines, managing large data and knowledge of web services. A good biological background and computing skills with unix command line, perl/python and MySQL are preferred. The applicant must be a good communicator and fluent in written as well as spoken English. Postdoc candidates should have demonstrated experience in leading or managing large data projects.
Postdoc position
Postdoc candidates should have a PhD in computational biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or computer science.
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
PhD position
Candidates applying for a PhD scholarship should have a master's degree in bioinformatics, biology, biochemistry, engineering, computer science, or a similar degree.
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
